Built by someone who was once there
Care Comes First was born out of a profound understanding of what it means to grow up within the care system. Having been in care as a teenager, our founder experienced first hand the gaps where consistency and deep connection were often missing.
This lived experience defines everything we do. It means we do not just provide a house, we create a home. We do not just manage cases, we build relationships that are resilient enough to handle the challenges of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Founded on Lived Experience
Our founder grew up in the care system, giving us a first-hand understanding of what young people truly need to feel safe and supported.
A Home, Not Just a House
We create warm, consistent environments that go beyond provision — places where young people feel genuinely at home.
Relationships, Not Cases
We build lasting bonds that are resilient enough to handle the complexity of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The pillars of our practice
Relationship Led Care
We focus on building safe, consistent relationships that help young people feel secure. By providing clear boundaries and predictable routines, we create the stability children need to engage with their world.
Trauma Informed Practice
We identify triggers and reduce stressors through proactive strategies. Our personalised plans reflect individual needs and strengths, acknowledging that behaviour is almost always a form of communication.
Intentional Environment
Our homes are designed to be calm, therapeutic spaces. We use sensory aware approaches to ensure the physical environment supports emotional regulation and a sense of belonging.
Predictability as a path to healing
For many young people, life has been unpredictable. We provide a calm adult presence and routines that can be trusted. This predictability reduces the need for hyper vigilance, allowing the nervous system to finally settle.
Skilled De-escalation
Staff are trained in low arousal techniques, focusing on restorative support to rebuild trust after distress.
Sensory Awareness
We use sensory informed strategies to help young people regulate their emotions in the moment.
"True care happens in the quiet moments of connection, when a young person realises they are finally in a place that will not give up on them."
A specialist partner for your placement needs
We work collaboratively with social workers and local authorities to ensure thatevery referral is the right fit for the young person and our existing community.
